Making Sense of Your Birth Story
A birth story-processing workshop for mothers and birthing people who had unexpected, unwanted, or traumatic c-sections
In person @ The Root - Sacramento, CA
Sunday, September 29, 2024 1:00-3:00pm
Cost: $105 Non-members / $95 Members
We can be grateful for our baby and still feel grief, sadness, and anger about the way we birthed or how we were treated during our birth.
Mainstream culture tells mothers that what matters is a healthy baby and healthy mother…
Many of us accept this narrative. Swallowing our feelings. Not wanting to appear ungrateful. Not wanting to be a “bad mother” by “focusing on the negative”…
But if you longed for an unmedicated vaginal birth that ended with a cesarean, you deserve a safe space to feel the loss of your dream and the impact on your life, your body, and your future pregnancy/birth.
Confusion. Grief. Loss. Feeling like your needs were ignored. Or that you were manipulated by your provider. That your body failed you. Or, maybe like you didn’t give birth at all.
If any of this resonates, this workshop is designed for you.
What to Expect
We’ll begin with introductions, agreements, and a grounding exercise. Then you’ll be guided through a process of mapping out your birth story in a way that helps you understand your experience more deeply.
In the second half, there will be time for sharing and listening.
Throughout, you’ll be introduced to some techniques that can help you feel more resourced and decrease nervous system activation.
This will be a very tight container with meticulous facilitation. There will be very specific guidelines for how participants interact with one another to eliminate the possibility of additional or unintentional harm being caused.
Open to birthing parents of all gender, orientations, and identities.
Babes in arms are welcome. Space is limited.
Please arrive 15 minutes early so that we can begin on time.
